The Force Working Group on Community Engagement (FWG) held a special meeting at the Police Headquarters on March 24. The event was attended by over 70 chairpersons or vice-chairpersons of the Associations of Schools Heads and Federations of Parent-teacher Associations (FPTAs) of 18 Districts as well as representatives of school sponsoring bodies. The meeting was co-chaired by the then Commissioner Siu Chak-yee and Director of Operations Chan Tung. District Commanders, Police Community Relations Officers and officers from the Crime Wing and Public Relations Wing also attended.

During the meeting, Siu Chak-yee reviewed the work and achievements of FWG since its establishment in early 2020. He pointed out that the juvenile arrest figures in 2024 returned to pre-2019 lows and were the fourth-lowest on record. He acknowledged the collective contributions made by various parties to improve the law-abiding awareness of the youth. He also introduced the six areas of work that the Force had enhanced since 2019, namely anti-deception, anti-drug, child protection, campus crisis response, national security education and the Junior Police Call programme. He also highlighted the fruitful results of this work.

The attendees commended the Force’s dedication to youth development, saying that the Youth Crime Prevention Booklet and teaching kit produced by the Force were very practical and useful. Several school heads mentioned the campus crisis workshops organised by the Police Negotiation Cadre, praising the Force’s commitment to empowering the education sector through professional resources and achieving cross-sector collaboration.
