To build strategic partnership and enhance counter-terrorism (CT) intelligence collaboration with Central Asian countries, Head of Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU), Senior Superintendent Leung Wai-ki led a seven-member delegation to visit Kyrgyzstan from May 13 to 17. It was the first time for the disciplinary forces of Hong Kong to visit Kyrgyzstan in official capacity.


The delegation visited the Anti-Terrorism Centre of National Security Committee as well as the Service for Countering Extremism and Illegal Migration of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to gain a better understanding of CT work and safety threats faced by the country. Constructive exchanges were made and both sides expressed the wish to establish a long-term cooperation. The delegation also visited the State Customs Service, Drug Trafficking Control Service, Ministry of Emergency Situations and Border Guard Service. Internal Troops of MIA also introduced its CT and security establishment and conducted a demonstration on handling violent incidents to the delegation.
