The Police College (the College) arranged Superintendent Wong Wai-chi to lead a 12-member delegation to visit Vietnam’s Homeland Security Department under the Ministry of Public Security between May 26 and 30 for the first time. The delegation was arranged to visit the People’s Police Academy of Vietnam and observed local counter-terrorism (CT) and shooting exercises.
The delegation had exchanges with representatives from various local departments on issues of foreign relations, public order, criminal investigation, traffic and security. The local officers shared their work in combatting transnational cyber fraud and utilising advanced technology to support CT work, as well as the latest achievements in nurturing police officers. The delegation shared the challenges faced by the Force in tackling deception and cybercrime, the leveraging of technology and CT publicity. During the meetings, both parties concurred that safeguarding national security was of utmost importance.
