Deputy Commissioner (Operations) (DCP OPS) Yip Wan-lung officiated at the opening ceremony of the New Generation Report Room (RR) at Tsing Yi Police Station on June 11. He toured the new facilities in the company of Regional Commander of New Territories South Mak Chin-ho and the then District Commander of Kwai Tsing District (KWTDIST) Au Yeung Mun-yee. Chief Superintendent of Planning and Development Branch Lee Nga-lai was also invited to attend the ceremony.
The new RR enhances privacy and security through modernised design features, featuring a CCTV system at the back of RR, a dedicated prisoner property packing area, a padded temporary holding area and a dedicated interview room for vulnerable witnesses or victims. Improvements at the reception counter include a disabled-access elevator, an electronic queuing system, an assistive device for the hearing impaired and semi-enclosed reporting booths. These designs aim to optimise community service.
