The Research and Development Division of Police Tactical Unit Headquarters (PTU HQ) has recently launched two innovative equipment - Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUA) Support Vehicle and AI Visual Intelligence-enabled Glasses for Drone Operations (AI Glasses) - employing technology to enhance frontline operational efficiency.

SUA Support Vehicle

Developed by PTU HQ, this four-wheel drive in active service is modified to integrate two critical systems. The roof-mounted, all-weather SUA docking station features automatic charging, ensuring constant drone readiness. SUA Remote Pilot can immediately deploy SUA upon arrival by opening the top cover of the docking station, improving response readiness for operations. At the rear of the vehicle, the tethering system platform delivers continuous power supply, enabling SUA equipped with high-definition camera, powerful lighting and speaker to carry out prolonged missions. This system is particularly applicable to high intensity and prolonged work like crowd management during major events and nighttime search and rescue.

AI Glasses

Co-developed by PTU HQ and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, this system integrates AI image analysis with Augmented Reality (AR) technology. Upon wearing the AR smart glasses, SUA Remote Pilot can simultaneously control the SUA while receiving live footage and AI data analysis. This significantly enhances situational awareness of the officers. The innovative design of the system was awarded the Bronze Medal in the “Hardware, Software, Cybersecurity, Blockchain & Internet of Things” category during the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.
