Recruitment Division (RECDIV) held the tenth Police Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day (READ) at the Police College with the theme of “One Force” on June 22, aiming to demonstrate to aspiring candidates the unity and solidarity of the Force in safeguarding Hong Kong. The event recorded nearly 2 400 attendees and more than 500 on-site applications.
The event consisted of Selection Workshops for Probationary Inspector (PI) / Police Constable, Police Unit Display, Sharing of Training Experience in College, Range Course Experience Station and Physical Fitness Test Workshops. Participants could submit applications and undergo initial screening on the spot. Top performing applicants in the Police Constable Group Interview might even attend the Final Interview on the same day.
This READ featured five new events:
(1) Escape Room - experiencing detective work through an interactive mystery-solving game;
(2) Barracks and Living Quarters Tour - touring Junior Police Officers Married Quarters and trainees barracks to gain an insight into the welfare benefits of the Force;
(3) Police Unit Display - demonstrating the strength and skills of elite specialised units through interacting with the public in games;
(4) Technical Services Division, Communication Branch, Traffic Wardens, Police Band and Police Communications Officers setting up booths for the first time to provide attendees with a deeper understanding of the Force’s diverse roles; and
(5) Crime Scene Investigation Mobile Laboratory attending a simulated crime scene to introduce to the attendees the work of Identification Bureau (IB).
Additionally, RECDIV announced the introduction of “PI DSE 4+ Express”, effective from July 1. Those who have obtained Level 4 or above in Chinese Language and English Language subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, or equivalent, and have passed the Aptitude Test of the Common Recruitment Examination will be deemed to have passed the PI Written Examination and will gain direct access to the Extended Interview. This measure allows candidates meeting the above requirements to join the Force as soon as possible, thereby enhancing the Force’s capacity to attract high-calibre candidates in the job market.
