Commissioner Chow Yat-ming and several members of the Senior Directorate Group attended the unveiling ceremony of the Headquarters Command and Control Centre on June 27 which signified that the new Control Centre had commenced operation.

The Control Centre has all along played a pivotal role in both daily policing and major operations. Its first refurbishment was conducted in 2005. Operations Wing launched the renovation and enhancement work of the Control Centre in 2022 with the aim of upgrading its facilities to better meet contemporary policing and operational needs.

The focuses of this enhancement work included the significant expansion and comprehensive upgrade of the high-definition display screens which enabled the Control Centre to effectively maximise the capabilities of Project “SmartView”, strengthening real-time situational awareness and operational capabilities. Additionally, the facilities and spatial layout of the Control Centre have been reorganised. New features include a confidential operations meeting room, a counter-terrorism command zone and an operational briefing area for enhancing the overall operational efficiency.
