From July 2 to 5, Commissioner Chow Yat-ming led a delegation to meet Secretary General of INTERPOL Mr Valdecy Urquiza in Lyon, France. Both parties, together with five Executive Directors of INTERPOL, exchanged views on aspects of global law enforcement operations, international cooperation and future strategic development.
The 94th INTERPOL General Assembly will be held in Hong Kong in 2026. This marks a significant milestone that underscores Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF)’s growing prominence in international policing. To ensure that the Assembly will be held smoothly, the delegation took this visit as an opportunity to exchange views on the current preparations and progress, and to reinforce the cooperation between both parties. The delegation also visited the INTERPOL Command and Coordination Centre where they observed how the Centre coordinates the police work among member countries and provides round-the-clock operational support as well as intelligence exchange.
As the Sub-Bureau Hong Kong under the INTERPOL National Central Bureau China, HKPF have been engaging in international cooperation with a view to combatting the emerging threats arising from cybercrime, financial fraud and transnational organised crimes. The Force also assisted INTERPOL in organising professional training as well as seconding officers to undertake key leadership roles at both the INTERPOL Headquarters in Lyon, France, and the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore. These reflect the Force’s unswerving determination to strengthen global police cooperation and promote international security.
