New Territories North (NTN) Region conducted an inter-departmental major incident and counter-terrorism exercise with the National Games Coordination Office (Hong Kong) and several relevant departments including the Fire Services Department and Hospital Authority at Kong Sham Western Highway and Shenzhen Bay Port from August 1 to 2.
The exercise simulated that different levels of incidents occurred when the cross-boundary marathon was taking place in the Hong Kong section during the 15th National Games. Officers of various units of the Force, the relevant departments and the stakeholders made immediate deployment in the vicinity of the venue to coordinate emergency rescue, conduct large-scale evacuation and respond to major and counter-terrorism incidents at the venue.
More than 300 officers from NTN Region, Yuen Long District, Counter Terrorism Response Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau and relevant departments engaged in the exercise. The Force also invited volunteers of the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol to participate in the exercise to enhance their understanding of the abilities of the Force and various departments in dealing with major and counter-terrorism incidents.
