The Senior Police Call (SPC) participated in the 10th Golden Age Expo and Summit held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 31 to August 2. 32 SPC members from Central, Eastern, Wan Chai and Western Districts introduced the SPC scheme to the elderly, promoted anti-deception messages and recruited new members.
Regional Commander of Marine cum Chairperson of SPC Central Advisory Board Ng Cheuk-hang and several board members visited the SPC exhibition booth to show support to the members and promoted the anti-deception messages together. Over 150 elderly people applied to join SPC on the spot during the Expo.
To actively promote the application of gerontechnology, SPC IT Captains were arranged this year to teach elderly people the use of technology on the spot, help them download and use government mobile applications widely used by the elderly, including iAM Smart and Scameter+.
Launched in February 2014 with the motto “SPC Spirit Helping Oneself and Others”, the SPC Scheme is open to anyone aged 55 or above. Through this scheme, the Force hopes to provide a platform for the elderly to maintain regular contact with Police, enhance mutual communication, and raise their awareness of crime prevention and sense of belonging to the community.
