One Day as a PI
43 Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) mentees were selected to participate in the “One Day as a Probationary Inspector (PI)” experiential training camp held between August 1 and 2. The two-day, one-night experiential training camp was conducted at the School of Foundation Training of the Police College (the College) with the theme “A Different Me”. It provided mentees with a firsthand experience of Chinese-style foot drill training, physical fitness training, live ammunition shooting demonstrations, tactical training, practical case handling and an overnight stay at barracks.
Commissioner Chow Yat-ming was invited for the first time to attend the event to share his experience for joining the Force and insights from years of police work. He encouraged the mentees to challenge their limits and unleash their potential. The mentees expressed that the training not only took them out of their comfort zones, but also deepened their understanding of PI training and strengthened their determination to join the Force in the future.
PMP Summer Day Camp
Immediately after the experiential training camp, the PMP Summer Day Camp was held on August 2 at the School of Foundation Training of the College, attracting a participation of more than 300 mentors and mentees. When the Commissioner was officiating at the Opening Ceremony, he shared his experiences as a mentor and his passion for police work. He encouraged the mentors and mentees to value the exchange opportunities provided by PMP.
The Summer Day Camp featured a variety of events with intellectually and physically challenging games as well as game stations involving new sports to enable the mentees to push their limits and enjoy the fun of sports. PMP Head Mentor cum Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Chan Man-tak presented the awards for the PMP Best Mentor and three mentees with outstanding performance in the “One Day as a PI” training during the camp.
