The Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) conducted a mass arrest and temporary holding area exercise on July 23 at Sau Mau Ping Police Station for crime group officers of Headquarters Response Contingent and Regional Response Contingents to enhance their capabilities in dealing with mass arrest.


The exercise simulated that the Force arrested demonstrators unlawfully assembling at the public open space in Kai Tak Sports Park during the 15th National Games, set up a temporary holding area to process the arrested persons orderly at Sau Mau Ping Police Station within a short time, and responded to various unexpected scenarios.


During the exercise, Major Systems Division of Information Systems Wing also demonstrated its newly developed application iTHA which streamlined the operation of Temporary Holding Area, and enhanced the efficiency of frontline officers in processing arrested persons as well as the command and control capabilities of supervisory officers in mass arrest.
