To enhance sea safety jointly with seafarers, the Marine Outer Waters District held the Sea Safety and Community Engagement Seminar 2025 at the Ma Liu Shui Marine Police Base on July 17. Stakeholders and practitioners from the maritime industry were invited to exchange information and suggestions on sea safety. Regional Commander (RC) of Marine (MAR) Ng Cheuk-hang and Deputy RC of MAR Ip Che-man attended the event to show support and encourage cooperation between MAR officers and the community.
The guests first visited booths to gain knowledge about national security, sea safety and related police work such as the MAR Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUA) Team. There was also a demonstration of a joint search and rescue operation by MAR SUA Team and the Marine East Division Jet Ski Team with the Fire Services Department. During the seminar, officers reported cases from various divisions and promotion efforts, and explored with the guests on how to enhance sea safety together. A representative from the Marine Department was also invited to share details of the Marine Safety (Alcohol and Drugs) Ordinance which came into effect in January and to provide a breath test demonstration. Finally, the Government Flying Service and a marine police launch conducted a casualty winching rescue demonstration for the participants.
