The first mini-series by the Force “Kwok Sir! Rookie Constables ‘Squad A’ Have Fallen In” have officially debuted on the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) Douyin account on August 29. A premiere gala was held at the Police Headquarters on the same day, attracting the attendance of leading figures from various sectors.
Innovative try on mini-series
“Kwok Sir! Rookie Constables ‘Squad A’ Have Fallen In” consists of 25 episodes, each approximately three minutes long, catering to urban people’s trend of watching short videos with a lively rhythm. The drama series, jointly produced by the Force and i-CABLE HOY, is filmed at the Wong Chuk Hang Police College so as to present the most realistic training scenes of Recruit Police Constable (RPCs).
The story is about the “legendary detective” Kwok Ho, played by actor Vincent Wong, who is transferred to become the instructor of RPC Squad A. He led a group of rookie RPCs with distinct personalities and diverse backgrounds during the 27-week basic training. The RPCs grew in the rigorous training and transformed into real police officers.
Numerous serving officers participate in the performance
In addition to inviting professional actors, serving police officers also performed. Instructors from the RPC Training Division, mentors from the Physical Training and First Aid Unit, instructors from the Weapon Training Division and even officers from the Public Relations Wing, Patrol sub-units and Recruitment Division made their debut in the drama series. The training, commands, and even the intonation and reaction were taken from the actual training and police work so that audiences can gain a deeper understanding of the physical fitness training requirements of RPCs, the specifications and characteristics of the new model pistols etc.
The crew members have been meticulous for the plot, uniforms, equipment and statute details. The main cast also went to the Police College early to learn the drill commands and movements. They also interacted with the RPCs to understand their mindset to grasp the characters, striving to restore the most genuine details of cadet school life. Commissioner Chow Yat-ming expected to enhance public understanding of the Force and even attract new recruits through the mini-series “Kwok Sir! Rookie Constables ‘Squad A’ Have Fallen In”.
