The Operations Wing conducted an interdepartmental tabletop exercise at the Police Headquarters on October 3 as the final-stage preparation for the upcoming 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG). Supported by 17 government bureaux and departments, disciplined services, and relevant organisations, over 300 representatives participated in the exercise.

The exercise was based on the experience gained from the previous exercises and test events, focusing on potential safety incidents and emergencies at competition venues and during events. It covered accommodation and transportation arrangements for athletes and technical officials, competition arrangements, venue facilities, service support and security measures. Participating bureaux and departments and organisations engaged in scenario analysis and discussions on contingency plans to enhance the emergency response capabilities and inter-departmental collaboration among stakeholders, aiming to ensure the safety of the public and athletes throughout the major events.

Besides, the Operations Wing of the Kowloon East Region (KE) conducted the second inter-departmental tabletop exercise, codenamed PLACIDSEA II, specifically organised for the 15th NG, the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG at the KE Headquarters on September 26. The event was officiated by Regional Commander of KE Dr Law Yuet-wing. 12 government departments and relevant organisations sent over 120 representatives to participate in the exercise.

The exercise set against the backdrop of the track cycling events scheduled from November 13 to 17 at the Hong Kong Velodrome in Tseung Kwan O. It simulated scenarios including venue security screening, crowd control, traffic coordination and emergency response, requiring departments to formulate response plans, deploy resources, implement measures, and coordinate actions promptly.
