The brand new Vehicle Pound and Examination Centre (Examination Centre) of Traffic Hong Kong Island (HKI) at Sheung Tat Street, Chai Wan has been successfully completed. The Examination Centre at the eight-storey Chai Wan Government Complex and Vehicle Depot (Complex) serves as a facility to detain vehicles in accordance with the law, and to provide equipment for examining various types of vehicles.

The new Examination Centre can accommodate 126 detained vehicles, an increase of approximately 80 per cent in capacity compared to the existing Quarry Bay Police Vehicle Pound, and is equipped with advanced examination equipment to further improve the vehicle inspection efficiency. It is expected that the new Examination Centre will commission in the first quarter of 2026 and the Force will release the site at Quarry Bay to the Government by then for other development. The newly established storage facilities for Store Management Division and Crime Wing Headquarters in the Complex will also facilitate the Force to better coordinate and manage Force’s stores and case properties.
