Commissioner Chow Yat-ming officiated the passing-out parade of Auxiliary Police officers at the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Headuqarters on August 16, and inspected six Inspectors (Auxiliary) as well as 157 Police Constables (Auxiliary).

In his address, the Commissioner indicated that the Auxiliary Police Force has undergone significant transformations over the years and has become one of the strongest pillars of the Force. He mentioned the Recruit Police Constables (Auxiliary) Special Basic Training Course launched in 2003 which has nurtured a cohort of intelligent and socially committed university students for the Auxiliary Police Force.

The Commissioner encouraged the newly passed-out auxiliary officers to maintain their passion for police work with professionalism. He also expressed gratitude to auxiliary officers for sacrificing the time with family and friends during holidays to perform crowd management duties at major events. He also commended them for returning to the police stations for duty enthusiastically beyond their full-time jobs.

He pointed out that the Auxiliary Police Force is not merely a supportive role but the best partner to regular officers. He stressed that the tripartite partnership which comprises regular officers, civilian colleagues and auxiliary officers is the key to Hong Kong’s reputation of having the “Asia’s finest police force”.

Several prominent athletes including Ms Vivian Kong, Mr Wong Kam-po and Mr Wong Wai-chun, the President and Vice-Chancellor of Hong Kong Baptist University Professor Wai Ping-kong and representatives from other educational institutions also attended the passing-out parade, demonstrating the close ties between the education sector and the Force.
