The National Security Department (NSD) held an opening ceremony for the NSynergy National Security Awareness Campaign on October 30. The Commissioner Chow Yat-ming, Deputy Commissioner (National Security) Kan Kai-yan and Director of National Security Kong Hok-lai officiated the ceremony. National Security Education District Tutors, together with representatives from the Senior Police Call and the Junior Police Call, attended the ceremony, marking the start of the ten-month “NSynergy” journey. The event also included promotional decorations related to the Legislative Council General Election polling day on December 7 to encourage citizens to vote actively.
Guardian of the Nation Technology Carnival
The inaugural event Guardian of the Nation Technology Carnival, ran from October 27 to November 2, was organised by the NSD, the Information Systems Wing, the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) and the Tseung Kwan O District (TKODIST).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Commissioner noted that the NSD Reporting Hotline has reached its fifth anniversary, and received over one million messages, reflecting the public’s awareness and proactive reporting of suspicious activities. He also called on citizens to safeguard national security, support the improvement of the electoral system, and fulfil civic responsibility by actively casting their votes in the 2025 Legislative Council General Election.
Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Kwan Chui-ching, Regional Commander of Kowloon East Dr Law Yuet-wing, Chief Superintendant of CSTCB Lam Cheuk-ho and District Commander of TKODIST Mak Man-yu also attended to show support. The Carnival featured various interactive activities which blended technologies with national security education, attracted crowds of public to participate. The event also promoted the newly added NSD Reporting Hotline function of the Police Mobile Application.
