Director of Public Affairs Department of the Singapore Police Force (SPF), Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SAC) Mr Tan Tin-wee led a delegation to visit the Public Relations Wing (PR Wing) from October 30 to November 2, and was received by Assistant Commissioner (Public Relations) Chan Sze-tat. The delegation learnt about the Force’s experience in social media application, responding to the mass media, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in public relations work during the visit.
During Halloween, the delegation also went to Lan Kwai Fong in Central to understand the deployment and operation of the Force Media Liaison Cadre and the Social Media Live Team. Mr Tan Tin-wee highly commended the public relations work of the Force on the professionalism and outstanding organisational capability demonstrated in handling media affairs, and the proactive application of AI to enhance work efficiency. He noted that the SPF and the Hong Kong Police Force share many similarities. The forces in the two places have collaborated several times in creating social media content, which have been well received.
Visit to Beijing for studies and exchange
Chief Superintendent of the PR Wing Leung Chung-man led a delegation to Beijing from November 4 to 7 to attend a media literacy training course for national leadership at the Communication University of China. The course combined theory learning with practical experience. During the visit, the delegation gained insights into the development of new media communication, and also visited Douyin Group and China Youth Daily to learn about the techniques for production and operation of social short video content, as well as the techniques for dissemination of government administration information. The delegation also had substantive discussions with representatives from various organisations and deepened consensus on cooperation.
The delegation also paid a return visit to the Ministry of Public Security News Media Center following the visit of the latter’s delegation to the PR Wing in May. The exchange demonstrated the professional interaction going north and south with the counterpart in the mainland, and the proactive advancement of collaboration in Force’s public relations work.
