Led by the Chairman of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) Ms Wong Pui-sze, 16 Council members and Secretariat staff visited the Police College (College) on October 24.
Accompanied by the then Acting Director of Management Services Tsui Sheung-yee and Director of the College
Chan Yee-lai, the delegation was briefed by College representatives on the foundation training programmes for Probationary Inspectors and Recruit Police Constables. The delegation then visited the Tactics Training Complex to observe a beat incident exercise and learn how the College has incorporated two Service Quality Improvement Initiatives, namely the proactive use of body-worn video cameras and enhanced photo-taking procedures for traffic enforcement into its training curriculum.
The delegation also visited the mini-range to understand how the College trains officers in the use of force and decision-making under pressure. An interactive session was also held that day, during which trainees and instructors shared their training experiences and aspirations for joining the Force.
Wong Pui-sze expressed her appreciation for the adoption of the improvement recommendations proposed by the IPCC in the training programmes and encouraged trainees to uphold professionalism and their aspirations when facing challenges.
