In view of the rising number of traffic accident cases involving the elderly, Traffic Branch Headquarters (TBHQ) arranged two activities for the elderly in November to enhance their road safety awareness.
On November 3, TBHQ, together with the Road Safety Council, Road Safety Team of Traffic Hong Kong Island, Western District, and representatives from Wai Yin Association, led a group of elderly to the Citybus Chong Fu Road Depot to participate in a road safety seminar and a double-decker bus blind spot experience. The elderly tried sitting on the bus captain’s seat to learn about the blind spots of the vehicle in person. Road Safety Ambassador Ms Anne Heung and Secretary of Wai Yin Association Ms Ivy Sung also hosted an interactive Q&A session with prizes.
On the other hand, TBHQ, in collaboration with Road Safety Council, Road Safety Team of Traffic New Territories South, and representatives from Wai Yin Association, paid a visit to Tsuen Wan District Elderly Community Centre of the Hong Kong Society for the Aged on November 25. Ms Anne Heung and member of Wai Yin Association Ms Jessica Wong teamed up with the road safety mascots Traffic Bear and Mr Safegg to interact with the elderly, encouraging them to remain vigilant about road safety to pursue the vision of “Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong’s Goal”.
