The Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit (ICTU) launched a “Government department-dedicated Counter-terrorism Reporting Hotline 6228 7718” on January 1 to enhance the synergistic benefits of intelligence across departments. In support of the government’s “Three-tier Prevention Framework”, the Hotline is dedicated to receiving reports or enquiries from all government departments. The new hotline number also includes SMS and WeChat reporting features. ICTU will review the operation of the Hotline from time to time and expand the reporting channels as and when necessary.

In the past, ICTU received reports on terrorism or violence through various public reporting means, which contained quite a lot of information that assisted in the investigation of criminal activities and some have even led to detection of cases and arrest of suspects. The new Hotline will foster closer intelligence exchange among government departments and build a safer community together.
