The construction works of the First Phase of Police College (College) Integrated Training Centre (Kong Nga Po) in Sheung Shui have been completed and the centre has officially opened. On January 8, Commissioner of Police Chow Yat-ming officiated at the opening ceremony of the new training centre. This training centre aimed to enhance officers’ professional capabilities in two core domains - firearms tactics as well as driving and traffic.

The construction works of the first phase primarily relocated the Police Driving and Traffic Training Centre as well as the Weapon and Tactics Training Facilities from Fan Garden. For driving training, the new training centre features a Tactical Driving Training Track which enables systematic training in high-speed driving and defensive driving. Major Traffic Accident Training Scene and Virtual Reality Traffic Accident Training System are also introduced to comprehensively elevate officers’ professional driving skills and incident handling proficiency. For tactical training, the new centre is equipped with replica marine vessel, maritime tactical facilities, mock urban areas, and breaking training facilities, etc. These highly realistic settings strengthen officers’ ability in decision-making and coordination under complex circumstances.

In his opening address, the Commissioner pointed out that in the face of an increasingly complex law and order environment as well as the crucial mission of safeguarding national security, officers must possess more sophisticated and more advanced tactical proficiency as well as driving and traffic expertise which better fit modern needs. This is not only essential for ensuring the safety of officers on duty but also enhancing overall law enforcement effectiveness. The opening of the new training centre marks a new milestone in Force training towards more professional and scientific development, realising the Force’s commitment to keeping pace with the times and pursuing excellence ceaselessly.

The Commissioner sincerely thanked the Architectural Services Department, all relevant government departments, contractors, partners, and all Force officers involved in the project for their dedication in building the new training centre. He looked forward to the smooth completion of Phase Two within the year. Following the opening ceremony, the Commissioner and guests toured the major facilities of the training centre.

It is expected that the works of Phase Two of the training centre will be completed in the third quarter of this year. The 25-metre and 300-metre firing ranges in Ma Tso Lung and Lo Wu will be relocated to the new training centre by then. A Specialist Operations Training Facility with scenes of mock shopping mall, hotel, MTR station, and airport, etc. will be added.
