The Road Safety Council (RSC) 52nd Anniversary I Love Mr Safegg Carnival, organised by the RSC, was held on March 8, with over 8 000 citizens attending. The Carnival called on the public to be mindful of road safety in their journeys.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Deputy Commissioner (Operations) (DCP OPS) cum Chairperson of the RSC Yip Wan-lung, Deputy Commissioner for Transport (Planning and Technical Services) cum Chairperson of the Road Safety Research Committee Mr Patrick Ho, Chairperson of the Road Safety Campaign Committee Ms Karin Wong, and Road Safety Ambassadors Ms Anne Heung and
Ms Denise Yeung.
DCP OPS expressed gratitude for the joint efforts of the RSC and various stakeholders over the past year, which contributed to a continued decline in traffic casualties, with fatal and serious traffic accidents reaching the lowest levels since 1954. He hoped that the RSC would continue collaborating with the stakeholders to realise the vision of “Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong’s Goal”.
The Carnival featured game booths under the theme of Mr Safegg, an inflatable bouncy castle, a new augmented reality game, creative workshops and photo zones. There was also an exhibition of the winning entries from “The Revamp of Sau Mau Ping Road Safety Town Design Competition”, showcasing the winning work from both the Professional and Student Categories, as well as physical models of the two champion designs.
