The Narcotics Bureau (NB) organised the “Anti-Cannabis cum Anti-Etomidate Month 2026” from March to April, featuring a series of large-scale publicity and educational activities to help citizens gain a deeper understanding of the dangers of drugs and enhance their anti-drug awareness.
The Mysterious Circus – Interactive Anti-drug Theatre
Over the past three years, the NB has organised over 120 interactive anti-drug theatres which conveyed anti-drug messages to more than 18 000 upper primary students. To enhance upper primary students’ awareness of the harm of emerging drugs such as etomidate, this year’s theatre features a brand new series of plays, “The Mysterious Circus – Interactive Anti-drug Theatre”. The total number of performances will reach a
record-breaking figure of 60, with half sponsored by Yan Oi Tong. The theatre explores the risks of youths contacting drugs online, and at the same time help them build digital literacy for stronger self-protection online.
The Principals’ Premiere was held on March 25, with nearly 300 representatives from charitable organisations and school sponsoring bodies, as well as principals, teachers, and upper primary students in attendance.
L.I.O.N. – Mobile
The anti-drug educational truck “L.I.O.N. - Mobile” toured around Hong Kong and 11 secondary schools from March 31 to April 30, reaching nearly 55 000 members of the public, teachers and students. On the educational truck, in addition to exhibiting the anti-drug education experience games and displays designed by previous cohorts of L.I.O.N. mentees, with drug scent simulations experience which simulated drug scents.
United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs
Chief Superintendent Ng Kwok-cheung and Senior Inspector Leung Ka-chun of the NB attended the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna, Austria from March 9 to 13. During the session, global law enforcement, health and policy experts discussed the international strategies for tackling the drug problem. The National Narcotics Control Commission also set up an exhibition of lacquered fans and calligraphy at the venue, exhibiting the works created by two ex-drug abusers.
