To deepen collaboration between the Force and the education sector, the Force Working Group on Community Engagement (FWG) organised a visit on April 24 at the Police Headquarters. Commissioner Chow Yat-ming, Director of Operations Lui Kam-ho, Assistant Commissioner (Public Relations) Chan Sze-tat, officers from various Force formations and Police Community Relations Officers exchanged insights on youth nurturing and development with over 65 representatives from the associations of school heads, Federations of Parent-Teacher Associations and school sponsoring bodies across the 18 districts.

In his speech, the Commissioner stated that, starting from this year, the FWG will adjust its regular meeting format from two meetings per year to “one meeting, one visit”, with the aim of enabling participants to better experience police work and discuss youth-related issues in a more immersive way.

During the event, the Force and participants focused on discussing child protection and youth drug issues, with particular emphasis on addressing the trend of etomidate misuse and corresponding response strategies. Participants also engaged in a hands-on demonstration using a drug-simulation kit to better understand the nature and harm of drugs. Subsequently, participants visited the Mobile Laboratory and Fingerprint Laboratory of the Identification Bureau to learn about the Force’s latest development in criminal investigation and forensic technology.
