Traffic Hong Kong Island (HKI) held the “Woof” Safety Carnival at the Eastern Section of the East Coast Boardwalk on April 12. A total of 600 people and over 200 pet dogs participated in the event. With the theme of “hold tight to your beloved ones, you can enjoy worry-free roadside activities”, the carnival aimed to promote inclusivity between humans and pets, as well as road safety awareness.
The opening ceremony featured a professional dog obedience demonstration and an interactive magic show, highlighting the importance of making good use of the four major road crossing facilities and maintaining a positive attitude while commuting. The carnival offered various game booths where citizens could learn about road safety and redeem exquisite Traffic Bear souvenirs. Officers from the Animal Watchers Programme of the HKI Regional Crime Prevention Office promoted messages to the public of caring for animals and preventing cruelty. The carnival also distributed animal-exclusive souvenirs: reflective dog harness, designed to enhance the safety of pet dogs at night.
