Traffic Kowloon West (T KW) has launched the “‘Navigator’ Scheme - Traffic Knowledge Sharing” as a pilot mentorship programme for new members of the Enforcement and Control (E&C) Division. The programme aims to enhance officers’ professional competence in traffic law enforcement through systematic knowledge management and continuous peer exchange.
The programme is divided into three key stages. Participants first undergo a two-day induction training, covering core traffic laws, enforcement procedures and safety guidelines. They then undertake a three-week field attachment, during which practical guidance is provided by experienced “Navigators”. Finally, participants engage in a four-week knowledge consolidation phase, focusing on 20 specialised traffic topics, to ensure that they possess the required practical application skills.
Unlike typical one-off introductory briefings, the “Navigators” provide continuous guidance throughout the first year of an officer’s service in the E&C Division, serving as a knowledge support hub for T KW personnel. The appointed “Navigators” are experienced practitioners responsible for conveying the latest laws and procedures, with a view to ensuring consistency between traffic legislation and enforcement actions.
