Various Force units have been offering job attachment opportunities to the mentees of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) during summer and winter breaks, enabling them to have a better understanding of police work through taking up short-term projects.
Following the inaugural Policing Issue Case Competition launched during the 2025 Winter Job Attachment Programme, the Recruitment Division organised the competition again for this year’s Summer Job Attachment Programme, expanding it to all attachment projects. The aim is to encourage mentees to propose creative and constructive suggestions on different policing issues, competing for attachment opportunities.
This competition attracted a total of 159 mentees vying for 100 places. Mentees were required to submit proposals on policing issues, either individually or in teams, covering areas such as research, event planning and information technology. In addition to receiving recognition, the top three teams would be provided with attachment opportunities to turn their ideas into practice.
After initial screening, five teams advanced to the presentation session and competed for the top three positions on April 16 at the Police Recruitment Centre. The judging panel comprised the PMP Deputy Head Mentor cum Deputy Director of Police College Tsang Fan-kwok, Chief Superintendent of the Human Resources Branch Kwok Mei-sum and Senior Superintendent
Kwok Ka-chun. Eventually, Li Tsz-on from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) achieved outstanding performance and was crowned the champion.
The competition not only showcased mentees’ innovative ideas, but also demonstrated the Force’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of policing talents.
