The Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) attended the sixth Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Economic Crime Investigation Conference in Macao on June 17 and 18. Since 2017, the conference has been hosted annually in turn by the CCB, the Economic Crime Investigation Department of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department (ECID GDPSD) and the Macao Judiciary Police (MJP).

This year, the conference was presided over by Deputy Director of the MJP Mr Sou Sio-keong, and attended by the delegations led by Chief Superintendent of the CCB Wong Chun-yue and Head of the ECID GDPSD Mr Liu Weiguo. The three parties discussed a variety of issues, including analysing the current landscape of cross-border money laundering, exploring ways to improve collaborative mechanisms in combatting crime, examining investigative challenges and preventive measures related to financial crimes involving the public, and formulating joint response strategies against telecommunications and online frauds.

In light of the evolving nature of economic crime patterns in recent years, heads of the investigative departments of the three regions presented the latest developments and trends in economic crimes at the meeting, and shared new initiatives targeting cross-border criminal activities. With further integration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, all three parties agreed to strengthen collaboration, especially in combatting major cross-border economic crimes, and to continue promoting regular exchanges and cooperation.
