Following last year’s “Police Recruitment Experience and Assessment Day” at the Police College, the Recruitment Division (RECDIV) has fully upgraded the event for this year. On June 28, the “Police Recruitment Day 2026” was held at Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground, bringing the annual recruitment event into the community. The event received a record high number of over 1 000 job applications. Commissioner Chow Yat-ming attended the event to encourage young people to join the Force.

A new “Graduate Express” selection initiative was introduced at this year’s event. Final-year university students who met the entry requirements and had attained Level 4 or above in both Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination were eligible to participate in the on-site Probationary Inspector Extended Interview and Aptitude Test. Other final-year university students could also take part in the Chinese and English Tasks papers for the Probationary Inspector Written Examination on-site, with only successful attempts being counted, to expedite the overall selection process.

In addition, the first-ever digitalised selection process allowed applicants to complete registration, check examination room arrangements in real time, and obtain assessment results using a mobile device, thereby enhancing efficiency and improving user experience.

Workshops for aspiring Probationary Inspectors and Recruit Police Constables were held during this year’s Recruitment Day, where RECDIV examiners personally shared practical tips and guided participants through mock interviews. Participants could also take part in the Physical Fitness Test workshops and Police Constable Selection Group Interviews, both of which only counted successful attempts.

The event featured various activities, including the Police Band’s longest-in-distance outdoor parade performance and the Hyrox-style CT Fitness Challenge. A total of 11 Force units, together with five sports and arts clubs, set up interactive exhibitions showcasing large police vehicles, allowing the public to get up close and take photos.

From September to October this year, the RECDIV will visit 12 local universities to hold the “Police University Recruitment Express”. For the first time, Year 2 students enrolled in four-year undergraduate programmes (i.e. those in their final two academic years before graduation) will be eligible to apply for the Probationary Inspector Written Examination, with only successful attempts being counted. This initiative also encourages students entering Years 2 to 4 in September to participate earlier in the recruitment process through the “Express” scheme while still studying.
