On June 30, the National Security Department (NSD) held a launch ceremony for the NS Bus publicity campaign at the KMB Kowloon Bay Depot. The ceremony was officiated by Director of National Security (DNS) Kong Hok-lai and Assistant Commissioner (National Security) (2) (ACP NS (2)) Kwok Ka-chuen. Students who had received awards in the NStudio Marketing Proposal Competition were also invited to attend.

DNS emphasised that our everyday lives are closely related to national security. By leveraging smart technologies, energy management systems and resource recycling facilities, the bus depot has enhanced the safety and efficiency of the public transport system, achieving remarkable results in safeguarding the fields of “societal security” and “resource security” under A Holistic Approach to National Security.

Following the ceremony, DNS and ACP NS (2) led the students on a visit to the KMB depot to gain a deeper understanding of the day-to-day operations and various smart management systems of the bus company, enabling them to realise the vital role of the public transport system in safeguarding national security.

To mark the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the 6th anniversary of the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law (NSL), five themed buses tour around Hong Kong from July 1 to 28. The designated route numbers of these buses can be combined to form the hotline number
“6 271 7 171” for reporting to the NSD via SMS. During the campaign, members of the public can take a photograph of any of the themed buses and upload it to the relevant post on the Hong Kong Police (HKP) Facebook page with the hashtags #NationalSecurity and #HKNSL. The first 100 eligible uploaders each day will receive an exquisite gift.

Please stay tuned to the HKP‘s Facebook and actively participate in the campaign!
