On August 1, the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB), in collaboration with the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP), held the “CSTCB × PMP Tech Fair 2026”. Led by Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) (ACP P) cum Head Mentor Dr Law Yuet‑wing, along with Chief Superintendent of the CSTCB Lam Cheuk‑ho, a team of mentors guided mentees through immersive activities to step into the role of CSTCB “tech police officers” and experience their everyday work. Themed under “Next‑Generation Policing•Smarter Cyber Defence”, the event focused on digital policing practices in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and attracted over a hundred mentees and mentors from various tertiary institutions.

In his speech, ACP P encouraged young people with a sense of mission, a spirit of innovation, and the courage to embrace challenges to join the Force. Meanwhile, Lam Cheuk-ho said that police work required interdisciplinary knowledge and collaboration across diverse backgrounds. With the Force now fully promoting smart policing, he urged mentees to start exploring and understanding the work involved in combatting technology crimes early.

During the event, mentors organised their presentations around “DETECT•DECODE•DEFEND”. They explained how to leverage AI tools to detect phishing messages from fraudulent mobile base stations, combat deepfake video scams, and investigate virtual asset-related crimes. They also introduced the upgraded AI features of “Scameter+” and showcased several cutting-edge digital forensics techniques.

Additionally, mentees participated in an “AI-Era Investigation Game” that spanned the entire event. Based on real-life cases and using AI-generated short videos depicting investment scams, the game enabled mentees to transform into CSTCB “tech police officers” to progressively unlock crucial clues.

The event was also in partnership with the Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology to set up an AI photo booth where mentees could generate personalised “tech police officer” portraits.
