On July 30, led by the Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (ETO) in Singapore Ms Hung Pui-ling, over 20 students participating in the ASEAN Internship Scheme for Hong Kong Higher Education Students 2026 visited the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore.

Two Force officers currently seconded to the INTERPOL Cybercrime Directorate, namely Acting Senior Superintendent
Lam Sze-yi, Assistant Director of Cyber Strategy and Capabilities Development, and Chief Inspector (CIP) Chan Hung, Head of Cybercrime Operations, introduced the interns to the mission and functions of INTERPOL as well as the work of the Cybercrime Directorate. They also shared the latest trends in cybercrime and how INTERPOL collaborates closely with law enforcement agencies worldwide to combat increasingly complex cross-border cyber offences. Drawing on their own experience, the two officers explained the pathways for police officers to join INTERPOL and the professional development opportunities associated with their positions. Afterwards, they introduced the Police Mentorship Programme to the interns and encouraged them to join the Force upon graduation.

The exchange allowed the interns to gain a first-hand understanding of the Force’s work and the importance of international cooperation in addressing global security challenges, while strengthening the connection between the younger generation and the Force.
