One Day as a PI

30 Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) mentees were selected to participate in the “One Day as a Probationary Inspector (PI)” experiential training camp held between August 7 and 8. The two-day, one night experiential training camp was conducted at the School of Foundation Training of the Police College (College). It provided mentees with a firsthand experience of Chinese-style foot drill training, physical fitness training, live ammunition shooting demonstrations, tactical training, simulated case handling, night hiking mission, and an overnight stay in the barracks.

The mentees expressed that the training not only enabled them to step out of their comfort zones and helped them develop resilience and team spirit, but also deepened their understanding of PI training and strengthened their determination to join the Force in the future.

Summer Day Camp

Immediately after the experiential training camp, the PMP Summer Day Camp was held on August 8 at the School of Foundation Training of the College with the theme of “CID”, attracting more than 300 mentors and mentees. Commissioner Chow Yat-ming officiated at the Opening Ceremony, where he shared his experiences in criminal investigation duties and his passion for police work. He also encouraged the mentors and mentees to leverage the experiential activities and exchange opportunities of the PMP.

The “CID” themed Summer Day Camp featured a range of challenging and interesting activities. Under the guidance of mentors, mentees experienced the thrill and sense of accomplishment from crime investigation work. The event adopted a digitalised management for the first time, which enabled mentors and mentees to complete registration and check-in, track game progress, and view scores in real time through mobile phones, thereby enhancing the efficiency and improving the user experience of the event.

Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) (ACP P) cum PMP Head Mentor Dr Law Yuet-wing also presented the awards for the PMP Best Mentors of the academic year on that day in recognition of their contributions over the year.
