The Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories North (RCPO NTN), together with Yuen Long District and Tuen Mun District, held a professional training workshop for the Diverse Community Family Protection Programme 2026 on August 26. The event was officially opened with welcoming remarks by Deputy Regional Commander of NTN Peter Whitton and District Social Welfare Officer (Yuen Long) of the Social Welfare Department Mrs Shek Chan Lai-wah.

The workshop covered the developmental and learning needs of ethnic minority (EM) students, frontline community intervention experiences of EM police officers, as well as identification, assessment, early intervention and follow-up strategies for child abuse, domestic violence, and child sexual abuse cases. The RCPO NTN also shared anti-deception tips relating to scams targeting EM communities. The workshop drew over 60 frontline social welfare practitioners.

Building on the positive results achieved since its launch last year, the Programme has been further extended to Tuen Mun District this year, rallying broader cross-sector efforts to jointly strengthen the support and protection network for EM families.
