A new batch of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) young public officers recommended by the Central Government will take up positions in the United Nations (UN). The launch ceremony was held at the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in the HKSAR on September 8, with the then Acting Commissioner Kan Kai-yan attending as an invited guest.

The MFA recommended a total of 16 young public officers to participate in the UN Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme. Senior Inspector Wu Lung from the Personnel Wing will represent the Force to serve as a JPO at the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Austria, for a two-year term. He will be responsible for organising conferences, as well as advancing treaty implementation and international cooperation projects.

The programme enables inspectorate officers to leverage their professional expertise and play the roles of a “super connector” and “super value-adder” on the international stage, while showcasing the HKSAR’s alignment with national strategies and contribution to overall national diplomacy.
