International Symposium on Cybercrime Response
Chief Superintendent of the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) Lam Cheuk-ho led a three-member delegation to Seoul, Korea, from August 25 to 28 to attend the 27th International Symposium on Cybercrime Response.
During the visit, the delegation met with the Director General of the National Counter Scam Bureau and the Head of the Cybercrime Investigation Division, and toured the Korea Integrated Scam Response Centre. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the latest global trends in online fraud and exchanged views on key issues such as the risks of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled scams, joint efforts to combat phishing, cross-border intelligence sharing, arrangements for joint exercises, and strategies for intercepting virtual assets.
The CSTCB will continue to expand international police cooperation and, through more precise and forward-looking strategies, remain fully committed to safeguarding cybersecurity.
Cyber Attack and Defence Elite Training cum Tournament 2026
The Cyber Attack and Defence Elite Training cum Tournament 2026, jointly organised by the CSTCB, the Digital Policy Office, the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited, and the Hong Kong Cybersecurity Professional Association, concluded on August 26. The three-day event drew 200 industry professionals from over 100 organisations to participate in the training, with more than 660 teams involving 1 500 industry and academic elites competing in the tournament.
In his speech, Lam Cheuk-ho said that amid the rapid advancement of AI, some criminals are utilising AI to launch cyberattacks, creating unprecedented cybersecurity risks and governance challenges. Therefore, the industry must keep pace with the times by refining technology governance strategies and proactive defence mechanisms.
The training course covered common cyberattacks and defence techniques as well as an agentic AI module, equipping participants with cutting-edge defence strategies and risk management skills to safeguard cybersecurity for large-scale events. Meanwhile, the tournament comprehensively tested the crisis management and contingency-response capabilities of the participating teams, further strengthening their skills in responding to cybersecurity incidents.
