Hong Kong Island Region (HKI) held the kick-off ceremony of Junior Police Call (JPC) National Security • Anti-Narcotics and Crime Prevention 3x3 Basketball Training Programme 2026 on September 20. Sponsored by the Teens and Elderly Mission Committee, the programme has been held for the third consecutive year. More than 12 000 teachers and students from over 120 primary and secondary schools in total participated this year, reaching a record high in scale.
The kick-off ceremony was officiated by Commissioner Chow Yat-ming. Regional Commander of HKI Au Wing-leung, Chairperson of the HKI Teens and Elderly Mission Committee Mr Cheung Hoi-kit, Assistant Commissioner (National Security) (2) Kwok Ka-chuen, Assistant Commissioner (Public Relations) and Chairperson of the JPC Central Advisory Board Chan Sze-tat, Deputy Regional Commander of HKI and Chairman of the Police Basketball Club Lam Hung-chuen, Chief Superintendent of the Narcotics Bureau Ng Kwok-cheung, representatives from the four Districts of HKI, alongside more than 300 principals, teachers, students, and JPC members, attended the ceremony.
The Commissioner said that national security was a newly added theme in the programme. In addition to arranging National Security Education District Tutors to schools to share national security knowledge, the programme will also arrange outstanding participants in the competition to join Chinese Mainland exchange tours, strengthening teenagers’ sense of national identity.
After rounds of training and competitions, the Final and National Security • Anti-Narcotics and Crime Prevention Carnival will be held on November 1 at Southorn Playground, Wan Chai.
