This year’s Junior Police Officer Development Programme (JDP) centres on “Path to the Stars”, with “Holding the Line” as this quarter’s focus to enhance mentees’ capability in disciplinary management through adapted real-life cases. On September 21, the Personnel Wing hosted the “Path to the Stars Series: Holding the Line - ‘The Call is Yours’”, which drew over 100 officers.
Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) and Head Mentor Dr Law Yuet-wing stressed that officers must uphold integrity at all times, and continuously reinforce professional conduct and disciplinary awareness to achieve “Holding the Line”. Additionally, Chief Superintendent of the Human Resources Branch Kwok Mei-sum emphasised that officers should cultivate an integrity mindset early in their police careers.
The event featured an interactive stage play for the first time, integrated with scenario clips generated by artificial intelligence (AI) to recreate real-world cases and simulate the potential challenges encountered by inspectors. Mentees voted on the spot to determine the direction and outcome of each scenario, while mentors shared their decision-making approaches and management insights based on the mentees’ choices, inspiring them to think from multiple perspectives.
Applications for JDP 2027 open in early October, with the deadline on October 23. For details, please refer to the Force Noticeboard.
