The Police Dog Unit (PDU), in collaboration with the Hong Kong Association for Conflict and Catastrophe Medicine, held the first PDU Tactical First Aid Course on September 4. About 170 officers from the Special Operations Group of the Public Security Police Force of Macao, Customs Canine Force, Dog Unit of the Correctional Services Department, Quarantine Detector Dog Team of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Quarantine Detector Dog Team of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, Aviation Security Company Limited Canine Unit, and the Force participated in the course.
The course covered post-bite management, prevention and treatment of zoonotic diseases, and related environmental first-aid skills, aiming to enhance officers’ ability to identify various dog biting risks. The course also served as a tactical exchange platform for various disciplined services, where participants were engaged in discussions on areas such as classifications of working dogs, the application of tactical first aid, and on-scene responses.
The PDU also conducted tactical canine demonstrations, illustrating how police dogs collaborate with frontline officers in responding to violent attacks and demonstrations.
