Force dragon boaters whitewash competition The Marine Police Dragon Boat Team swept to multiple victories during the Tuen Ng Festival on June 18 with a set of superb performances. The official Force dragon boat representatives, the Marine team took out their three main events on race day along with a number of encouraging runner-up spots in warm-up events in the days running-up to the big day. Despite squally storms and showers the team got Sha Tin steaming, streaking down the Shing Mun River with ease to take out both the Men's Friendly event as a teaser, and later the Provisional Regional Council Cup Men's Open Championship. The fire-breathing Mariners then moved to the Aberdeen typhoon shelter later in the day to demolish the competition there also. They overpowered long-time rival the Fire Services Department to win the Disciplined Services Invitation Race ending a fantastic day of power paddling. The team will represent the Force again on July 3 and 4 for the big one, the International Dragon Boat Race which will be held in Sha Tin.
