Freshers' Force trip

University students had a crash course in policing recently under a study looking at changes in Hong Kong.

A group of 60 students were selected from Hong Kong, Beijing, Nanjing and Harvard Universities to partake in the project themed "Hong Kong in a State of Flux".

Four of those students were selected to conduct a study on "How to Develop and Maintain a Quality Police Force" and visited 16 formations to learn the basics of police work.

They were accompanied by Inspector Ng Shu-hung and Sergeant Chan Kit-lee of the Police Public Relations Branch to visit the various Police training schools, Wings and Bureaux from July 20 to August 13.

They also tried their hand at assorted police equipment, and met a host of officers along the way.
