Easier training for intricate network

Besides providing computer systems to facilitate users' daily operation, the Information Systems Wing also cares about users' training needs.

The Communal Information System is one of the most commonly used computer set-ups in the Force and smooth daily operation requires a good understanding of it. So to become familiarised with the CIS is not an easy task as its coverage is inevitably broad.

In addition, new features are being added constantly so intensive refresher training is essential to help users keep pace with the enhancements. To supplement instruction by the Information Technology Training Centre, and to ease its tight schedule, CIS Computer-Based Training (CBT) is imperative.

The CIS CBT is a multimedia self-learning product, providing sound effects and colourful pictures allowing easy and fun learning.

Based on learning traits and behaviour, the CBT incorporates four user-friendly teaching mechanisms, namely Screen Information, Demonstration, Brief and User Notes. The CIS CBT will be continuously updated to reflect new enhancements so users can simply turn on the CIS CBT and familiarise themselves with the newly enhanced features at their own time and pace.

The CIS is divided into 10 modules. They are: Case Processing, General Administration, Bail Administration, Property Administration, Report Generation, Inquiry, Prisoner, Traffic, Archive and Security.

Users can look at any specific module, or even any specific field, whenever there is a need.

The first module is 'Case Processing' and the Chinese version of this will be rolled out on September 22. The CIS CBT will be installed in all CIS workstations (after NT migration) and can be accessible by all CIS users.
