a) An officer appointed to the service before October 1, 1990 and has since served continuously without a break in service may opt for entitlement under the HFS;

b) The officer must submit his Option Form (TRY/HFS 1(97)) upon or before the submission of his Formal Application for the HFS (refer to step 4C in the table below);

c) For officers on or above PPS 36 on September 30, 1995, the deadline for making the option is September 30, 1995;

d) For officers below PPS 36 on September 30, 1995, the dealine for making the option is six months after he reaches PPS 36, or six months after the date of notification of his promotion to PPS 36 or above if the promotion takes retrospective effect, whichever is the later.

(III) Entitlement After Option Deadline
- Only applicable to officers appointed before October 1, 1990 After the expiry of the option deadline, these officers may still be allowed to join the HFS but the 120 maximum entitlement period to receive Home Financing Allowance will be reduced by the period from the day after the Option deadline to the day before they commence to draw the HFA.
