LIA mourns former chairman

Former Local Inspectors' Association Chairman Chau Chuen-kung died of a heart attack on November 2.
Senior Inspector Chau chaired the association in 1979-80 and 1992-95 and was its executive member between 1995 and 1999. He also led the first local Police organisation to visit the Beijing Police Association in 1994.
LIA chairman Liu Kit-ming said he was saddened by the news and paid tribute to Mr Chau, saying under his leadership the LIA grew strong.
"Mr Chau was dedicated to fighting for equal benefits for the local inspectorate. He worked hard and had never been upset by criticism," Mr Liu said.
"He was unyielding in the face of difficulties and set a good example for those coming later."
Born in 1946, Mr Chau joined the Force in 1965 as an Inspector and served in various formations including Traffic Branch, the Police Training School and others. His last posting was Officer-in-Charge, Western Magistracy. Mr Chau is survived by his wife and four daughters.
