$800,000 located and returned

(This letter was sent to CP Eddie Hui)

I wish to thank Police for their whole-hearted and dedicated service and in particular their high efficiency in helping me recover a paper bag left inside a taxi.

On October 7 at 4.20 pm I took a taxi from the Holiday Inn Golden Mile in Tsim Sha Tsui to KCR Kowloon Station. Upon reaching the station at 4.35 pm I saw my friend waiting inside the lobby. I got out of the taxi in a hurry and left a paper bag on the seat with a handbag inside it containing my identity card, credit cards and $800,000 in cash.

When I realised I left the bag, I rushed to the taxi stand only to find the taxi had left. In a state of shock I reported the matter to the station's Neighbourhood Police Office. Sergeant Lee Che-ko and Police Constables Wong Tak-kwong, Yeung Kwok-keung and Wong Chi-shing were on duty and spared no efforts in helping me. After calming me down and learning about details of the whole incident, they phoned various taxi control centres to seek assistance in locating my bag.

It was hard to believe that in 30 minutes at around 5 pm, Police had succeeded in locating the bag and took it to the Neighbourhood Police Office. All the things inside were untouched.

My family and I do not know how to express our gratitude to your officers who had rendered me such prompt and excellent assistance. I am writing this letter in the hope that the good job of Police would not go unnoticed.
