Kwun Tong watchmen keeping things safe

Fourteen Kwun Tong security guards were presented with commendations on December 29 for helping Police fight various crimes including car theft, burglary, robbery and criminal damage relating to debt collection activities. The presentation was part of an anti-burglary publicity drive to encourage watchmen to help Police fight crime.

Officiating at the presentation at Kwun Tong Police Station were Kwun Tong's District Commander Tam Kwok-wing and District Fight Crime Committee Chairman Fung Kam-chiu, along with Sai Kung District Fight Crime Committee Chairman Lour Tsang-tsay.

Five other watchmen who performed well in the Security Guards Alertness Campaign held earlier by the District, were also commended.

To raise their alertness, officers of the Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Office held a seminar for about 80 security guards.

It covered common issues which they might come across in their day-to-day work, and recommended measures to tackle them.

Calendar cards carrying the tips were also distributed to the participants.
