Four on the trot for PTC


Court appearance: D OPS Dick Lee and team mate DMS Douglas Lau slug it out at the PSRC

The Police Tennis Club took out the championship final of the 1999 Inter-Disciplinary Forces Tennis Tournament on January 25, for the fourth consecutive year.

The 11-member squad skippered by Iain Tse, beat the Fire Services Department 6-3 in the event at the Police Sports and Recreation Club. The squad included Director of Operations Dick Lee, Director of Management Services Douglas Lau, along with Cheung Chun-por, Yue Hon-wang, Lee Wing-cheung, Lee Kwok-chung, Wong Yik-man, Man Kwok-fai and Koun Wai-man and Wong Che-yuen.

Another tense stand-off on the day was the clash for runner-up standings between the Customs and Excise and Correctional Services Departments. Dick Lee, Douglas Lau, C&E Assistant Commissioner Poon Yeung-kwong and Chief Fire Officer (NT Command) Lau Shu-lam, also squared-off in the Directorate Officers' Friendly Match with Mr Lee emerging overall winner.

The day saw as many as 100 participants and guests including Commissioner of Police Eddie Hui, Director of Fire Services Tsang Kwong-yu, Commissioner of Correctional Services Benny Ng, C&E Deputy Commissioner Li Wai-man as well as Richard Tang, Patron of the Police Tennis Club and son of the late philanthropist Sir Shiu Kin Tang. Trophies and souvenirs were presented by Mr Tsang and Mr Tang.

Meanwhile, the PTC also took out the 26th Henry Fok Cup Tennis Tournament organised by the Hong Kong Chinese Civil Servants' Association on December 4, for the seventh consecutive year beating long time rival the Hospital Authority. In other good news, the PTC ladies team was elevated to Division A after winning the Division B championship of the Winter League 1999.
