Chai Wan mop up

Sure bet: Chai Wan officers discourage gamblers from gaming in public

Anti-drug and gambling operations have seen a welcome clean up of Chai Wan's housing estates and public areas.

Chai Wan Division arrested 93 and 95 people respectively for unlawful gambling in the street and drug possession, in more than 30 operations in the first half of the year. Most of the gambling cases involved the elderly playing cards.

Chai Wan officers erected posters and distributed leaflets in gambling blackspots appealing for people to stop the practice, and removed illegally-placed tables and chairs.

Officers will also regularly conduct operations with Food and Environmental Hygiene Department staff to clean up abandoned syringes at drug blackspots to ensure the safety and health of residents.
